The pupils and I have been extremely busy prepping for the New Mills School’s garden submission for the RHS Tatton Park Flower Show. For several weeks during the Summer term, I worked with pupils from across all years to create clay flowers for the archway, ceramic butterflies and 3D replicas of the food from the story “The Hungry Caterpillar”. Moreover, the bug bowls from the lunch sessions were also included in the display, and I worked closely with several of the students to help create the painted backdrop of the Small Tortoiseshell Butterfly, and of its lifecycle.
The hard work was definitely worth it – the garden was awarded Highly Commended, and achieved both Best in Show AND People’s Choice award!!! Huge well done to everyone who participated – it was also featured on the BBC program: https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m00071bz/rhs-flower-show-tatton-park-2019-episode-2
