For the first two after-school sessions with the Year 9 pupils, we made plaster reliefs of the flora in the School gardens. Inspired by the technique used by artist Rachel Dein [http://www.racheldein.com] the pupils first impressed their plants into wet clay. The plants were carefully removed, then covered with plaster which set overnight. The results were extremely detailed, which amazed the pupils! And they are now considering whether or not to paint these casts…
