For the second Year 7 & 8 session, the pupils were introduced to experimental drawing techniques. Each pair of pupils were given an authentic specimen box containing beetles or butterflies, and were set with the following timed techniques:
1) Describing the visual characteristics – 5 mins
2) Pencil drawing – 30 seconds
3) Biro drawing – 2 mins
4) Opposite hand drawing – 4 mins
5) Not looking drawing – 3 mins
6) Coloured pen continuous line drawing – 4 mins
7) Paper background and fineliner drawing – 5 mins
8) Stick and ink drawing – 5 mins
The pupils found these techniques challenging – but as the session progressed the pupils become more and more relaxed and enjoyed themselves… Resulting in exciting observations!
